About The Event

This event will be in English
Dutch in the UK
Whether you arrived years before Brexit or only recently made the move, Dutch citizens in the UK now face a landscape that is more complicated than ever. From residency rights and dual nationality restrictions to voting from abroad and the ongoing need to prove your status, many Dutch nationals find themselves navigating issues they never anticipated.
This event brings together two leading voices who have been shaping the national conversation around EU citizens’ rights and the Dutch diaspora:
Eelco Keij
Founder and chair of the Stichting Nederlanders Buiten Nederland (SNBN), Eelco has long advocated for the rights of Dutch citizens abroad. He will unpack the structural challenges facing the Dutch diaspora, from voting rights to dual nationality, and share the latest developments in efforts to improve the relationship between the Netherlands and its citizens overseas.
Monique Hawkins Policy and Research Officer and Acting CEO at The3Million, Monique has been at the forefront of supporting EU nationals through the post‑Brexit transition. She will speak to the lived reality EU nationals in the UK, including the complexities of the EU Settlement / UK eVisa scheme, the importance of maintaining status, and the everyday hurdles that come with proving rights in a post‑Brexit environment.
This evening will offer:
Clear explanations of the rules that affect Dutch nationals today
Practical advice on maintaining and protecting your rights
Insights into ongoing political and legal developments
A chance to ask questions directly to two of the most knowledgeable experts in the field
If you’re Dutch, part of a Dutch family, or simply navigating EU rights in the UK, this event will offer clarity, practical insights, and a forward‑looking perspective on what Dutch nationals in the UK need to know to navigate their lives with confidence.
