Time & Location

About The Event
After his career in the City, former investment banker and entrepreneur Marc ter Kuile will show and explain how he got involved in the world of time and antique clock restoration.
What's involved in this old profession? What significant encounters has he discovered in relation to Austin Friars and centuries past? And what significant encounters does he himself experience with his English clients?
Many clockmakers from the Low Countries found a safe haven in Austin Friars and started Britain’s 300 year long world domination in clock making.
You'll be in for an entertaining story of how the Dutch and British not only fought each other at sea but also fought, and still fight, about who constructed the first pendulum in a clock.
